Bureaucratic Stupidity
Recently at work, I encountered my first case ever, of bureaucratic stupidity. Due to “security concerns”, firewall ports are not to be opened 2 ways (ie only uni-directional).
In the firewall port application form, the column says “Please state uni directional or bi-directional”. Since I needed Server A to talk to Client B both ways, I filled in...

Speed Up Your Vista Network Connection →
Yeah seems to work… I was surprised when default Vista network connection showed only about a 70Mbit speed when copying files over a local home network. After this tweak, it went up to about 80Mbit to 90Mbit, but still not at the same level as my XP had - ie full 100Mbit speed.
